Quiet Space
Our classroom has a Quiet Space that students can request to use anytime they need a break.
It is a beanbag behind a shelf with a few sensory items (stuffed dog, fidgets, water wiggle) and a timer.
Students can use this space to remove themselves from something causes them stress (whether that stress be frustration, anger, irritation, distraction, etc). The timers vary from 1 - 5 minutes depending on what the student feels they need.
The purpose of this space is to provide a safe secluded area where students can reflect and modify their emotions in order to calm themselves and return to participating in the classroom.
